St. Andrew was looking on, so to speak, when parishioners cleaned the church in preparation for the Nov. 30 feast day Mass. The image hangs from the balcony of the old choir loft over the center aisle inside the front entrance. Above, from left, are Patti Miller, Barb Kozen and Marilyn Redenius; on the ladder, Marlene Ek. The print is one of two donated by parishioner John Ehrman. The original artwork, depicting St. Andrew with an X-shaped cross, is an exterior mosaic next to the cathedral in Amalfi, Italy, dedicated to St. Andrew.

While they got the church ready for the feast day Mass, the Cleaning Angels also prepared for Advent by draping the purple cloth that hangs in the sanctuary behind the altar and tabernacle. From left are Barb Kozen, Patti Miller, Marilyn Redenius and Marlene Ek. Photo was taken Monday, Nov. 21. The church’s boiler had given out days before and everyone working inside bundled up.

On her way to the Nov. 30 feast day soup luncheon, Kate Sullivan passed this image of St. Andrew that hangs in the entrance to Arundel Hall. The print is one of two donated to the church by parishioner John Ehrman for our church’s 150th anniversary in 2021.

After Mass on St. Andrew Feast Day, worshippers got together in Mary Arundel Hall for a soup luncheon prepared by members of the church choir.

This painting of St, Andrew Church was done by Marcy Hall of Oil City. It is reprinted with her permission. Marcy painted this for parishioners Jim and Kate Fatter from a photo she took. While living in Erie, Marcy was a librarian at Blasco Memorial Library and lived near West Ninth and Raspberry streets. She has done paintings of saints, monks and notable historical Catholics.
